A special focus in lift table construction is the safety of employees, avoiding workplace accidents, and ensuring disturbance-free production operations.
For this purpose, HEG developed lift tables with double motor drive.
From redundancy in the drive system to passive safety elements such as bellows and contact protection strips, to a safe control concept – the DM series is designed with safety in mind.
Until now, hydraulic brake cylinders have been used as a measure against sinking in case of motor failure or drive unit breakage. Hydraulic catching units have the decisive disadvantage that they either do not completely stop the lift table or the stopping is not damage-free.
Furthermore, hydraulic catch systems are highly dependent on oil temperature and thus on ambient temperature. At too high oil temperatures, failure cannot be ruled out.
Testing of function required by the Machinery Directive inevitably leads to damage to the system (maintenance required).
To achieve Performance Level "d", a redundant constructive design is necessary.
Our double motor solution fully replaces the safety brake/catching cylinders, because one motor can hold the entire load in case of damage.
To achieve this, the motor brakes are designed with twice the motor torque. This measure against unintended sinking and a fail-safe electrical control serve as a testable catching device. The safety function can be checked at any time.
Additionally, the belts we use are designed with a safety factor against breakage of >10. This means our tables can still hold the load with only one belt while complying with the operating specifications of EN 1570.
This development offers fail-safe, non-destructive stopping in emergencies and raises performance to Performance Level "d."
